WELCOME fellow wine Explorer! Let me be your wine guide for the Umpqua Valley AVA, (American Viticultural Area), Roseburg, Oregon, the birthplace of Oregon Pinot Noir and the Modern Oregon wine industry. My tours are fun and educational. Winery discounts, waived Tasting Fees, and a full Picnic Lunch are all features of my tours.![]() Don't forget to order your Gift Certificate for that special occasion! My regular wine tours of the Umpqua Valley leave from the Econo Lodge (Exit 127, ROSEBURG) parking lot located at 2855 Edenbower Blvd: next to Applebee's. Or I will be glad to pick you up at your Roseburg hotel or home for a carefree tasting experience. There is an additional charge of $10 PP for pick-ups outside the Roseburg area.
As a client of Oregon Wine Country Tours, you will benefit from my eye for detail. Each of my FOUR winery visits are designed to be informative and entertaining, covering all levels of the wine tasting experience from the novice to the enthusiast. Unlike the competition, I escort you inside the winery and answer your wine questions. You will experience the very best the Umpqua Valley has to offer. "EACH TOUR IS CUSTOMIZED; NO "PUMP 'EM OUT TOURS"! You do not have to have a group to sign up. Individuals and couples are welcome. I attempt to fill tours to my standard maximum of eight tasters. (Call on larger groups). No limos or crowded buses on my tours! You will enjoy the comfort of a touring van with air conditioning. This size allows me to provide a more personal, informative tour and be available to answer all your questions. By keeping my tours small and more intimate, tours can be customized to the individual or group preferences. A Full Lunch will be served at one of the wineries. And remember, all tasting fees are included. I especially encourage the novice taster to take my tours. Touring with Oregon Wine Country Tours will not only be an enjoyable, memorable experience, but you will leave the tour with a better understanding and appreciation of the different wines of the area and the knowledge of proper wine tasting etiquette! I delight in providing the "basics" of wine tasting and my passion is helping others to truly experience the beauty of Oregon's Oldest Wine Country! Cheers! In the Umpqua Valley, our wineries are spread out over many twisty miles, unlike Napa Valley where you can spit your wine out into the next winery's bucket! Turn the clock back and enjoy the peaceful countryside! So park those gas guzzlers and let me fill up my tank. Yet another great reason to take an Oregon Wine Country Tour. Unlike the limo tours that simply get you to the wineries and wait outside, I am a wine enthusiast with many years in the wine tourist industry and I offer valuable tips on wine tasting, as well as, the history of Umpqua Valley. I accompany you inside the winery where I introduce you to my wine maker friends. My mission is to support the local wineries in any way I can, unlike other tour companies that actually charge the wineries for coming by! Your Guide, H.Bruce Smith, Sole Proprietor
From the Publisher of the News-Review:
"This past weekend, along with my wife and four friends, I toured four wineries with Oregon Wine Country Tours. I learned about fine wines, I learned about why the Umpqua Valley is so special for vineyards and wineries, I learned about some of the great wineries already operating in Douglas County. And, I learned why we are on the cusp of great growth for wineries and wine tourism. (Yes, I also ate a great lunch in a beautiful setting.)"
surveyed 1,000 travelers and compiled a list of the top 10 wine destinations in North America based on the responses. #5! Roseburg, Oregon: "South of Willamette Valley, Roseburg has a slightly warmer climate and is situated in the Umpqua Valley, where impressive natural scenery is all around from waterfalls to wildlife. News-Review Roseburg: "A thriving regional wine industry brings in travel dollars, and the travelers who embark on wine tours are high-end tourists desirable in any region." Willamette Valley Lament: "...the Umpqua Valley wine tour route, which I find to be more beautiful, less intense and more enjoyable to visit than other wine regions of the state." "Bruce, we just want to thank you for the wonderful wine tour. Your Wine Education Class 101 was great and we all learned a couple of things we didn't know.
The lunch was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed the wineries. We had a great trip and plan to do it again next year."
